Back On Track, Stat

The first week of February is coming to a close. Have you fallen off the New Years weight loss and diet bandwagon yet? I wasn't as big on the weight loss resolutions this year since Mr. Eight is still gone and Mr. C is not sleeping through the night yet; sometimes cooking healthy meals and exercising come second to homework and sleep. That doesn't mean I am completely letting myself go though. I'm still keeping up on the small things that I really feel are the foundation of any good diet.

I'm a firm believer in making lifestyle changes rather than "going on a diet". It's easier, and I'm more likely to stick to something that still allows chocolate, Coke Zero, and even take out every now and then. I never deprived myself. I looked at serving sizes and acted accordingly.

EatingWell.com is one of my favorite sources of healthy eating tips and recipes. The website is organized in a way that makes it really easy to find exactly what you're looking for. There are sections for gluten free, kids health, dieting and more. The recipes are even divided into number of calories in a serving, and every recipe includes nutrition information. Most of the recipes are really easy and every one that I've tried so far has been really tasty!

If you're stuck in a weight loss rut or are tired of the low cal meals you've been trying so hard to stick with all January, check out these links and maybe you'll find something to spur you on!

25 Easy Ways to Lose Weight

A Day in the Life of a Successful Dieter

If you don't have time to read through them all, here are my favorites:

1. Have a skinny latte and an apple for a mid-morning snack. This provides you with fiber and calcium.

2. The best formula for a lunch that will get you through the afternoon is vegetables, whole grains and lean protein.

3. Being "too good" can be your downfall in a diet; in the evening, enjoy a few squares of dark chocolate.

4. Eat off of a smaller plate to maintain portion control.

5. If you have a "bad diet day", use this mantra to get you back to where you need to be "Back on track, stat!".
