Win these two diapers in the Mother's Day #ClothDiaperHop
ATTENTION! These swim diapers are limited edition! Daisy Mama is not currently planning on making more swim diapers at the moment. If you don't win the giveaway, can't wait for the giveaway to be over, or just can't live without them you can still contact her via Facebook or Etsy and ask if she'll consider a custom order for you!
I live in Hawaii. I live in Hawaii probably 10 minutes from the closest beach. Now I don't want to brag, but you can probably guess where we go at least twice a month, every month of the year. ;)
Taking the little ones to the beach can be a hassle, especially the ones still in diapers. For those of us who cloth diaper, the thought of buying those overpriced disposable swim diapers can really bring you down, at least that's how I felt! Obviously if you cloth diaper you're going to want your swim diapers to be cloth too.
Here's another issue, if they're in the diaper on the drive to the beach/pool, are you going to get them ready before you leave or after you arrive? If you get them changed into swim gear before you leave the house, you're going to have to take at least part of it off again to put on the swim diaper (and hope they don't pee on you before you get into the water). But getting the kids dressed and ready after you arrive can be a hassle too. Not everyone is comfortable changing their kids on a public beach, and not everyone has a van or SUV they can open the back of to use as a makeshift changing room.
Just the thought of all that prep work is enough to keep me away from the beach, but DON'T DESPAIR! This is where Daisy Mama swim diapers come in. The swim diapers are made with a PUL outter shell and a terry cloth inner, and feature adjustable snaps similar to a OS pocket diaper. The adjustable feature is important; at Target you can buy a Speedo reusable swim diaper for $20, but it is sized and shrinks easily if accidentally put in the dryer, having a product you can wash and dry with your normal diaper laundry is really appealing to me!
Now here comes the best part, the diaper comes with a snap-in insert! This is how it works: before you leave the house, get your baby all ready to go, put them in the swim diaper with the insert snapped in, no worries about leaks in the carseat before you make it to the pool/beach. When you arrive at your body of water of choice simply pull the diaper down a little bit, reach in, undo the snap and slide out the insert. Pull the diaper back up and voila (!) they're ready to take a dip! Of course, with smaller babies it might be easier to lay them down, take the diaper off and pull the insert out, but for those old enough to stand pulling the diaper down a bit is really convenient!
I LOVE this swim diaper, I don't go to the beach with out it. Another tip, this diaper is perfect for babies who like to sit and play in the sand more than they like to play in the water. Sand shakes off the terry really easily, and if you leave the insert in you don't have to worry about them peeing all over themselves and in the sand.
Overall, these are one of my favorite diapers, I love it way more than the Speedo one I purchased at Target!
