Check the link at the bottom for some great yard sale tips!
I've got it! I've got the fever! This past Saturday I co-hosted my first yard sale, it was multi-family and we had SO much stuff. It was great! I had tons of fun and made a decent amount of money and got rid of things that were just taking up space in our house. So win/win.
I spent a lot of time in the week leading up to the yard sale going through the house and deciding what we could get rid of. Turns out we have a lot of crap. Things we just don't need. I've read some blogs that talk about becoming a minimalist, and although that seems a little extreme for me, it's definitely something I feel like I should always work to aspire to.
On top of any ethical, materialism, reason to get rid of superfluous junk, is the fact that we live in military housing and are low on storage space. I cleared off shelves and emptied out whole cabinets and drawers. I didn't even get a chance to go through everything either. That's how much stuff we have. My house has never been really organized either, so I feel like this is a perfect opportunity to get rid of things we just plain don't need and start organizing the things that we do need. I feel like our lives could be a lot simpler and cleaner at home.
Well, by the end of the yard sale I'd been bitten by the yard sale bug. I want to do it again! I sold my two biggest items, which was great, and got great prices for both, but there are still tons of toys and clothes that could go. I decided next Saturday I'm going to do it again. We've got a weight bench and a kayak that need selling, maybe even a dryer too! See, I'm just going through the house in my head.. what else could we sell??
I want to share with you what I learned last weekend, it being my first time and all, so I put together a list of tips in another post just for you! Hope it helps! Check it out here!
