Our fur baby ran away last Thursday. I'm heartbroken. He dug out of the yard, probably chasing stray cats, and I believe he got off the base.
The most solid lead I've had is someone who saw him a couple miles away, near a bridge and a homeless encampment. She thought he was dead, but when I checked the area he was no where to be seen, and City & County hasn't picked him up.
Today a man coming up from the encampment told me he thinks he may have seen him yesterday at the nearby Jack in the Box.
I thought for sure on Friday that he was dead after I spoke to the first person. When the County said they hadn't picked him up I didn't know what to think!
He's only 9 months old and not the brightest crayon in the box, I hope if he did get hit by a car that he was just stunned and has learned to stay away from them.
I've done everything I can think of to try and find him. Hung up signs, posted on Craigslist and local Facebook pages, filed with the Humane Society, talked to people on the street. So frustrating.
I hope he comes home, or we at least find out for sure what happened to him. We're supposed to be leaving the island for good in 6 or 7 months, and I can't imagine leaving without ever knowing for sure.
In the mean time I'll hang up more signs and incessantly check Craigslist.
